Kinokawa Persimmon "Kuroama" - Wakayama Prefecture, Premium Grade (Shū), 2–4L Size, Approx. 3.6 kg (12–15 pieces), in Original Box

The finest product among the "Kinokawa Persimmons" grown in the Kinokawa river basin of Wakayama Prefecture, the "Kuroama Persimmon," is a representative brand of Wakayama that offers the rich, elegant sweetness of a fully ripened fruit achieved through tree-ripened astringency removal (jujō datsujū).

As we are at the peak of the harvest season, we will specifically select and deliver large 3L–4L sizes.

As its name suggests, it is highly distinctive for its flesh, which is densely packed with black specks (goma) not found in other persimmons.

You can fully enjoy its rich sweetness and umami (savory depth), along with the full flavor of the persimmon.

For "Kuroama," the usual process of removing astringency with alcohol or gas after harvest is instead performed while the fruit is still on the tree. This allows the persimmons to remain on the tree for over a month longer than other varieties, ensuring they are fully ripened before harvest.

This method, called "tree-ripened astringency removal," requires painstakingly hand-bagging each individual fruit. Solid alcohol is placed in the bag, and the fruit is left on the tree for an extended period to slowly remove the astringency.

While this cultivation method is incredibly labor-intensive, the "Kuroama" that is ripened on the tree offers a distinct deliciousness, both in appearance and taste, that is unmatched by other persimmons.
